Binding's new study goes a long way toward filling this gap, even though it is unfortunate that not much attention is given to the poetic masterpiece among Andersen's travel books, In Sweden (originally published in 1851 as I Sverige). Had the monograph included a full bibliography of Binding's primary and secondary sources, rather than merely citing the sources spontaneously in the end notes, it would have been easier for critics to find their way around in Binding's scholarship. Perhaps, Binding could have left the canonical fairy tales aside (or integrated them only as thematic references) in order to create more cohesive and convincing study of the author's novels and travel books.
